October 26, 2010 - Birch Grove Project Begins

On 10/26/2010, the County board voted to give an initial $11,000 to Birch Grove to pay for
architectural services.

Excerpt from the minutes of the October 26th Board of Commissioner's meeting:

"Commissioners Fenwick and Martinson reported that they met with Auditor-Treasurer Braidy Powers and County Attorney Tim Scannell to review two applications for 1% Local Option Sales Tax funding. The Town of Tofte is making improvements to the Birch Grove Center and adjacent area, with the project to cost approximately $471,950. Some of this cost will be paid by other entities, but the majority is subject to potential 1% funding. The Tofte Township is requesting an initial $11,000 payment to pay for architectural services from the Center for Changing Landscapes. Motion was made by Fenwick, seconded by Martinson, and carried to accept the Town of Tofte application regarding Birch Grove improvements, and to approve an initial $11,000 payment to the Center for Changing Landscapes as presented. Auditor-Treasurer Powers will keep the County Board informed regarding this project and future requests. Powers noted that this payment would not trigger the bond repayment schedule, as the County can spend up to 20% to pay for preliminary services before declaring its intent to repay a 1% project through bond issuance."
