Cook County Law Library
The Cook County Law Library is located on the second floor of the Cook County Courthouse on the North side of the public lobby area. The shelves include up-to-date versions of the Minnesota Statutes, Minnesota Rules, and the Laws of Minnesota. From the public computer terminal, users can access online legal research tools.
Legal Aid Services of Northeastern Minnesota provides free legal services to eligible low-income residents in the following areas of law: Medical Assistance, Medicare, Long-term care issues, Health care directives, Powers of Attorney, Probate questions Landlord/tenant problems, Public and Subsidized housing problems, Consumer problems, Debt problems, Contract disputes, Home repair disputes, Warranty enforcement, and other non-criminal Legal problems.
An attorney from the Duluth office of Legal Aid is generally available for consultations in Grand Marais on the third Tuesday of every month at the Cook County Courthouse from 9:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M., and at the Grand Marais Senior Center from 11:45 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Anyone wishing to consult with the attorney should contact the Duluth office of Legal Aid at (218) 623-8100 (toll-free at 855-204-1697) or the Court Administrator at (218) 387-3678. Seniors who wish to consult with the attorney should make arrangements through the Grand Marais Senior Center.
