General Facility Information

The Cook County Jail has 5 individual holding cells where first appearance and pre-trial inmates can be held up to 72 hours (excluding weekends and holidays). There is also a 10 bed Work Release/Huber cell for inmates serving a community service (STS) or Huber sentence for up to one year. The facility is able to house adult male and female offenders. Juvenile offenders are not housed in the Cook County Jail.

Long term pre-trial inmates are those who have been sentenced to less than one year and are not eligible for work release are housed in other counties. The pre-trial inmates housed in other counties are transported to Cook County for court appearances.

Jail Visiting Hours

Sunday 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Sunday 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Visiting is also available from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on days that inmates are transported to Cook County Jail for court appearances.
