Proper Food Service

The Minnesota Department of Health is responsible for the prevention and control of illnesses caused by the improper storage, handling, preparation, and serving of food. Regulation of food establishments and providing food safety information to the public is the duty of the Minnesota Department of Health.

Report a Food Safety Concern

If you suspect that you have become ill from food or have a concern about a food service establishment, please call the Minnesota Department of Health Foodborne Illness Hotline at 1-877-FOOD-ILL (1-877-366-3455) or Cook County Environmental Health division at 218-387-3630.
