Provide a continuously improving, safe and efficient road and bridge system that promotes economic vitality and enhances the quality of life for residents and visitors.

Responsibilities
The Highway Department is responsible for the efficient planning, design, construction and maintenance of the Cook County highway system, which comprises 297 centerline miles of roadways and 59 bridges.

To accomplish this, the Highway Department secures funding from Federal, State and local resources.
