Public Health is a division of the Cook County Public Health and Human Services Dept.

  • Collaboration and advocacy activities, leading to a healthier community
  • Partnership with Emergency Management to prepare for and respond to disasters and assist communities
  • Promoting health and safety through programs such as Car Seat Technician

Responsibilities


Disease Prevention and Control
  • Assist and conduct infectious disease investigations
  • Communicable disease prevention, education, and follow up to control the spread of disease
  • Coordinate with the Minnesota Department of Health on case investigation
Emergency Management Preparedness and Resources
  • Partnering with Emergency Management to prepare for and respond to disasters and assist communities in recovery
Health Community Promotion
  • Promoting healthy behaviors through events and public communication, and community assessments
  • Providing health service information and referral to county resources
  • Assuring the quality and accessibility of health services
  • Family Home Visits for pregnant and post partum mother and babies
