Engineering


The Engineering Division plans, designs and oversees construction on highway and bridge improvement projects. Additionally, Engineering is responsible for ensuring that the county highway systems complies with Federal, State and local regulations.

Key responsibilities include: 
  • Preparing the 5 Year Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) 
  • Overseeing County State Aid Highway (CSAH) system management and compliance 
  • Managing the Federal/State funding application process 
  • Designing and permitting county highway and bridge projects 
  • Providing construction management and observation 
  • Performing design and construction surveying 
  • Managing Highway right-of-way 
  • Conducting materials compliance/quality assurance testing 
  • Managing annual bridge safety program, including inspections and reporting 
  • Managing highway mapping and historical archives
