Forest Land Programs

Family Forest Stewardship and Property Taxes

Private family owned forest land provides wildlife habitat, watershed protection, aesthetics, and biodiversity that benefit all Minnesotans. Because of the public benefits private forest land provides, and to help family forestland owners manage their lands the Minnesota legislature created the:
  1. Sustainable Forest Incentive Act Program (SFIA), and
  2. Managed Forestland Program.

The SFIA program offers annual cash payment of $7 per acre for qualifying property.

The Managed Forestland Program provides a reduction in class rate for qualifying forestlands.
