Becoming an Adult Family Foster Care Provider

Becoming an adult family foster care provider is a big decision. It is a commitment to allow an adult with special needs to live in your home and become part of your daily life. Adults in foster care often work and are very active in the community.

As an adult foster care provider you assist these adult to live their life to the fullest. In addition to providing room and board in a safe, nurturing environment, you may also be called upon to provide assistance with transportation, filling out medical benefit forms, supervising medication and other special needs care.

Cook County Social Services can answer your questions about becoming a licensed provider. If you become a provider, Social Services will continue to work closely with you and the adult’s family/guardians to develop a plan and your role in the plan.
