Property Records and Information Requests
Cook County Property Records
Our vault holds official copies of all real estate documents recorded since the organization of Cook County in 1871. The Recorder’s Office is responsible for maintaining a permanent repository of recorded documents for real property. All of the Real Estate documents are open to the public for review or copies.
Our staff can give you a brief tutorial on how the records are kept but since recording documents is our priority, we do not have the time or staff to do searches for you. Searching for information such as easements, liens, and mineral rights can be quite involved and you may find that it is helpful to contact a local abstract company for assistance.
