July 18, 2017 – Following are highlights and key priorities covered at the Tuesday, July 11 Board of Commissioners Meeting:

Cook County Welcomes Presentation of Grand Portage Flag
During today’s Board of Commissioners Meeting, Commissioner Bobby Deschampe presented the Board with a Grand Portage Flag as a permanent addition to the Commissioners’ Room. The presentation was accompanied by the performance of the traditional Flag and Honor Songs performed by the Stone Bridge Singers drum group of Grand Portage.

Media Release - Cook County to Contract with Lake County for Professional Engineering Oversight Until Permanent Position Filled

July 18, 2017 – Cook County has entered into a short-term contract with Lake County for engineering oversight in the absence of a County Highway Engineer for major infrastructure projects underway.

Media Release - July 11 Board of Commissioners Meeting Highlights

July 13, 2017 – Following are highlights and key priorities covered at the Tuesday, July 11 Board of Commissioners Meeting:

Highway Engineer Resignation
Administrator Cadwell presented the Board with the resignation of Highway Engineer David Betts submitted on July 3, citing other employment as the reason for the resignation.  Board Chair Sivertson, Vice Chair Doo-Kirk and Cadwell discussed the resignation and decided to accept the resignation effective July 6, citing the best interests of both the County and Betts. 

Road Project Contracts
The Board approved three contracts submitted by engineer Betts as continuation of projects already programmed, including wetlands delineation for work on CSAH 12 at County Road 92 and a contract to begin right-of-way acquisitions related to the County Road 45 project currently being designed.

Media Release - Highway Department Launches Online Permits

July 12, 2017 – Several Cook County Highway Department permits are now available online. Residents can now apply for Entrance, Moving, Special Road Use and Utility Permits through the County’s ePermitting system.

“We are excited to add the Highway Department permits to the suite of electronic permits available on the County’s website,” said Jeff Cadwell, County Administrator.  “These ePermits will help provide greater access to the County across the vast geographic area that Cook County encompasses, improve turn-around time and reduce difficulty applicants can face in submitting paper applications.”
