911 & Telephone Service Restored in Cook County

 7:15 pm: January 19, 2017 – Phone service, including 911, across Cook County has been restored.

“We are very pleased that CenturyLink has repaired the fiber and that 911, and all phone service, is up and running,” said Sheriff Pat Eliasen. “I extend sincere thanks to the dedicated emergency responders who staffed Fire Halls overnight and throughout the day, our Deputies, and our Dispatch Team for their dedication to public safety during adverse circumstances and extend my thanks to everyone who was involved in restoring this critical service. I also commend the efforts of our local CenturyLink employees for their work to repair the service as quickly as possible.”

911 and Telephone Service Still Down Across Most of County

8:00 AM: January 19, 2017 – Phone service, including 911, across the majority of Cook County is still currently unavailable. CenturyLink, the phone service provider, is working to repair the problem and restore service as soon as possible. In the event that anyone needs emergency assistance, go to the nearest Fire Hall as each hall is being staffed while 911 service is affected. Results of testing overnight provided by the following:
